Pelissero Vini Tells Time Through An Italian Red Inspired
By Art, Music, And Contemporary Culture.
In the heart of Piedmont’s Langhe, among the vineyards of Treiso and Neviglie, Pelissero Vini has guarded for generations a vision of wine built on elegance, territorial identity, and an unrelenting pursuit of excellence.
Founded as a family estate deeply rooted in Piedmont’s winemaking culture, the estate is now internationally recognized for its ability to reinterpret great native varieties — Nebbiolo and Barbera — with a refined, contemporary, and worldly sensibility. An approach that marries artisanal precision, aesthetic awareness, and a notion of understated luxury: never excessive, always authentic.
It is from this vision that Long Now is born — a Langhe Rosso DOC that transcends the classical idea of wine to become cultural narrative, sensory experience, and a meditation on time itself.
Time As The New Luxury
In an era defined by relentless speed, Long Now chooses to move in the opposite direction. The name draws inspiration from The Long Now Foundation, a nonprofit created by intellectuals, scientists, and artists — among them Stewart Brand and Brian Eno — with the mission of fostering a slower, more conscious relationship with the future.
A philosophy given its most iconic form in the celebrated Long Now Clock: a timepiece engineered to run for 10,000 years, powered by the changing of the seasons and destined to be installed inside a mountain in Texas. A prototype is currently held at the Science Museum.
The vision of Giorgio Pelissero begins precisely here: telling time through wine. Because few things interpret the value of waiting, of evolution, and of transformation quite like a bottle.
In March 2002, Brian Eno personally visited the estate, sharing the project and gifting five experimental compositions inspired by the sound of the foundation’s clock. A defining encounter between music, nature, and wine — where the slow time of the seasons becomes an integral part of the experience.
“Like a timepiece built for ten thousand years, this wine is a celebration of slowness: a conscious, patient expression of time, earth, and the future.”
A Contemporary Red
In the glass, Long Now reveals its full contemporary character. The blend of Barbera and Nebbiolo yields a wine of intense, deep colour, constructed on balance and tension. The nose offers ripe wild berries, blackcurrant, and cherry, interwoven with soft spice, liquorice, tobacco, and roasted coffee. The palate is elegant yet decisive, with refined tannins and a structure conceived to evolve magnificently over time.
And perhaps this is Long Now’s most compelling message: a reminder that true contemporary luxury is not speed, but the capacity to wait.
